After splitting the weekend series with the Eugene Emeralds at 3-3, the Vancouver Canadians headed down the I5 to kick off a six-game series with the Everett Aquasox.

Everett blanked Vancouver 2-0 on the back of a strong pitching performance from Brandon Schaeffer who threw his first Northwest League game ever and had six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and walking one.

Everett and Vancouver continue their series tonight at Funko Field beginning at 7:05pm with Adam Macko against Everett’s Jimmy Joyce.

C’s Held Scoreless For the First Time This Season.

Gabby Martinez was the only Vancouver player with an extra-base hit in this game with the double. Cade Doughty struck out three times while Josh Kasevich had one walk and Peyton Williams like Doughty had three K’s against him.

Schaeffer silences C’s Bats in Northwest League Debut

Perhaps it was a case of unfamiliarity for Vancouver but they couldn’t solve Brandon Shaeffer in his debut with Everett.

The Seattle Mariners prospect was drafted in Round 18 as the 546th overall pick and had recently been promoted from the Mariners farm team in Single-A Modesto. There Schaeffer had a 3-4 record with a 3.62 ERA in 11 starts.

The battle for the Northwest League first half crown continues with the Canadians falling to 27-24 with the loss. The Spokane Indians and C’s are now tied for first in the Northwest with identical 27-24 records and a .529 winning percentage. The Aquasox are 5th at 26-26.
