The Vancouver Canadians lost 2-1 to the Eugene Emeralds in 10 innings at P.K. Park on Friday.

C’s starter Rafael Sanchez stranded a pair of one-out singles to right field by Carter Howell and Victor Bericoto in the first inning.
Em’s starter John Michael Bertrand retired the first four batters he faced before surrendering a home run to left field by Cade Doughty to give Vancouver a 1-0 lead.
Gabby Martinez got aboard on an infield single to first with two outs but went no further.
Eugene tied the game with a two-out rally in the bottom of the second. After Luis Toribio struck out, Max Wright singled to center, went to second on a Ghordy Santos walk and scored on a Grant McCray base knock up the middle.
Alan Roden walked with one out in the top of the third but Bertrand got Andrés Sosa to hit into a 6-4-3 double play. Sanchez struck out Jared Dupere for his first 1-2-3 frame in the bottom of the third.
Michael Turconi began the fourth with a base on balls off Bertrand but only got as far as second on a one-out Doughty grounder to third. Sanchez also had a runner in scoring position to deal after a one-out walk to Toribio and a two-out free pass to Santos but McCray struck out swinging for the third out.
Bertrand and Sanchez traded perfect frames in the fifth with Sanchez striking out Bericoto before the game turned into a battle of the bullpens.
Joe Kemlage worked around a two-out walk to Turconi in the top of the sixth and Abdiel Mendoza did the same with a Toribio free pass in the bottom of the inning, snaring a Aeverson Arteaga liner back to the mound before the walk.
Martinez drew a two-out walk against Mat Olsen for the only Vancouver runner in the seventh. Mendoza stranded a one-out base on balls to McCray and a Bericoto two-out single to left by whiffing Dupere on a 3-2 pitch to keep the game tied at 1-1.
Ben Madison set down the C’s in order in the eighth and Conor Larkin also faced the minimum by getting Toribio to ground into a 4-3 inning-ending double play to take care of a leadoff walk to Adrian Sugastey.
Another 1-2-3 inning by Madison was matched by Justin Kelly who struck out Wright to begin his outing and that sent the game to the top of the 10th inning.
Doughty was the placed runner for Vancouver in the 10th inning but he would not go anywhere despite a Dasan Brown infield single to third as Devonte Brown struck out on a 3-2 pitch to end the inning.
Howell dropped down a sacrifice bunt to Kelly on the mound and the 1-3 play moved McCray as the placed runner over to third. Two pitches later, Bericoto singled to right to walk it off for Eugene.
