The Vancouver Canadians lost 6-4 to the Eugene Emeralds at P.K. Park on Sunday.

The first hit of the game belonged to Alan Roden who doubled to left field off Emeralds starter Nick Sinacola. Roden got to third when Andrés Sosa reached on an error by Aeverson Arteaga at short. Michael Turconi then lifted a sacrifice fly to left to score Roden with the first run of the game.
C’s starter Devereaux Harrison also gave up a leadoff hit in the bottom of the first when Grant McCray singled to right on the second pitch of the inning. McCray stole second on a Carter Howell strikeout but Harrison kept McCray 180 feet away from home plate by whiffing Donovan Walton and getting Victor Bericoto to fly out to center.
Dasan Brown had a two-out base hit to right in the top of the second inning but he was thrown out trying to steal second on a 2-6 putout to end the inning.
The Emeralds tied the game when Jared Dupere took Harrison deep over the batting eye in center field to begin the second inning. Harrison rebounded by striking out Adrian Sugastey to start a string of three men in a row retired.
Vancouver retook the lead in the top of the third when Roden collected a hustle double to center field with one out. Turconi kept the inning going with a two-out walk before Alex De Jesús singled to left to score Roden. A throwing error by Dupere missed the cutoff man, allowing Turconi and De Jesús to move up another 90 feet but they would be stranded when Sinacola struck out Doughty.
The Emeralds had a pair of singles in the bottom of the third when McCray singled to center with one out but he was thrown out trying to steal second on a 2-6 play. Howell followed with an infield single to third but Walton flew out to left for the third out.
There was only one baserunner in the fourth and that was a Sugastey two-out walk in the bottom of the frame after Harrison struck out Dupere. Sugastey was stranded on an Arteaga fly ball to center.
The C’s would score again in the top of the fifth against Joe Kemlage. Roden singled to right field with one out and Sosa walked on four pitches. De Jesús would deliver a single to right to score Roden to put the C’s ahead 3-1.
Harrison struck out Luis Toribio to begin the bottom of the fifth but yielded a two-out infield single to third by McCray and a base hit to left by Howell. They were stranded when Walton fouled out to third.
Vancouver tried to add to its lead in the sixth against Nick Morreale when Gabby Martinez singled to right with one out and Brown doubled to center but Martinez was thrown out at the plate on an 8-6-2 play. Martinez had words for Auerbach as he felt the Em’s catcher had blocked his path to the plate as he was a few feet up the third base line. Cooler heads prevailed with Brown eventually swiping third base but Estiven Machado flew out to left to end the rally.
Eugene was glad to see the last of Harrison as Eric Pardinho took over to work the sixth. A Bericoto walk, a Dupere infield single to second and a Sugastey single to center loaded the bases. Arteaga walked to bring in Bericoto and chase Pardinho from the game. Lefthander Naswell Paulino saw his first pitch taken to right field for a single by Toribio to plate Dupere with the tying run. Auerbach struck out swinging but a 4-6 fielder’s choice by McCray scored Sugastey to put the Em’s ahead 4-3. A fly ball to right by Howell ended the inning.
Roden ignited another rally for the C’s in the top of the sixth when he singled to center off Brett Standlee. A wild pitch and a Sosa fly ball to left moved Roden around the bases before Turconi blasted a singled to right past Bericoto at first to score Roden with the tying run.
Eugene would answer back with a leadoff hit of their own when Walton singled to right on a 0-2 pitch from Paulino before Dupere took a 1-2 pitch over the wall for a one-out, two-run homer to put the Emeralds up by two. Paulino would strike out Arteaga for out number three.
Hunter Dula set down the C’s in order in the top of the eighth with Josh Kasevich pulling up lame at first base after grounding out too short for the first out. Turconi took over for Kasevich at third base in the bottom of the eighth and Lyle Lin filled in for Turconi at first base. Lefty Cooper Benson entered the game for Vancouver and picked off Auerbach after a one-out walk before an inning-ending strikeout of McCray.
Tyler Myrick entered the game for Eugene in the ninth and walked Roden with one out but Sosa hit into a game-ending 4-6-3 double play.

Spokane is off to a 3-0 start in the second half after winning three straight against Tri-City. Eugene and Everett are 2-1 while Vancouver and Hillsboro are 1-2.
