The Vancouver Canadians were shut out in the run and hit columns by the Spokane Indians after a 4-0 loss at Nat Bailey Stadium on Wednesday.

Canadians righthander Devereaux Harrison gave up a leadoff single to left by Braiden Ward that just fell in front of a charging Gabby Martinez. Ward was taken care of when Harrison induced a 5-4-3 double play ball off the bat of Benny Montgomery. Juan Guerrero then went down swinging to conclude the top of the first.
Spokane righty Anderson Pilar issued a two-out walk to Peyton Williams on four straight pitches but wound up striking out the side in the bottom of inning number one.
The Tribe broke out on top when Nic Kent singled under the glove of Williams at first into right field. Robby Martin Jr. then took Harrison deep to left into the C’s bullpen for a two-run home run. Jesus Ordoñez followed with a solo homer to left field one out later to make it 3-0 for the visitors.
The C’s were turned away in order by Pilar in their second at-bat before Harrison turned in his first perfect frame in the top of the third, striking out Montgomery and Guerrero swinging for the second and third outs.
Vancouver could not solve Pilar again in the bottom of the third while Harrison completed his second stanza of perfection in the top of the fourth, striking out Martin.
The first out of the top of the fourth was a bit of an adventure as Ben Sems lifted a fly ball near the right field line. Ryan McCarty made the catch just in front of a tumbling Garrett Spain running in from right field. Harrison struck out Ordoñez before Cuba Bess smoked a single past a diving McCarty to right field. Harrison got into an animated conversation with base umpire Ken Jackson for some unknown reason while C’s manager Brent Lavallee chatted with home plate ump Josiah Shepherd. The inning would end when Bess was thrown out on a delayed steal. C’s catcher Kekai Rios made a nice throw in front of the second base bag which Kasevich caught up to from his shortstop position and applied the tag on Bess for the third out.
The C’s finally got a base runner on in the top of the fifth in the form of a two-out walk by Spain. Martinez hit a sinking liner to right that Ward caught to get Pilar out of the fifth.
Harrison ended his night with another 1-2-3 entrada, getting a strikeout of Montgomery to get through the top of the sixth.
Pilar again sliced and diced his way through the Vancouver lineup with a perfect frame to send the game to the top of the seventh.
Righty Sam Ryan relieved Harrison for the top of the seventh and walked Ryan Ritter. Kent hit a ground ball to short but Ritter prevented a double play by beating Kasevich’s toss to second. McCarty was able to throw out Kent for a 6-4-3 groundout. Ryan struck out Martin but gave up a base to right by Ben Sems past a diving McCarty to bring in Ritter with the fourth Spokane run. McCarty injured his left hand on the dive but he remained at the keystone for the rest of the game.
Pilar was back for the bottom of the seventh and walked Cade Doughty with one out. Kasevich lined out to third with Doughty just getting back in time at first to avoid being doubled off. Despite going over the 100-pitch mark, Pilar kept the C’s off the board for a seventh straight inning.
After Ryan struck out Bess looking to begin a clean top of the eighth, Brayan Castillo was the first Spokane reliever of the evening and he picked up where Pilar left off. Martinez hit one on the screws towards right-center field but Ward ran it down for the second out. Rios hit a slow bouncer to short but was thrown out to end the home half of the eighth.
After Ryan dispatched Spokane in order in the top of the ninth., Castillo was back out on the hill for Spokane for the bottom half. He walked Devonte Brown before Dasan Brown popped out in foul territory to Ordoñez who overran the ball before making a diving catch in foul territory. Williams drilled one out to the warning track in center field but Martin made the catch for the second out. Doughty then popped out to end the game as Spokane completed the no-hitter.
