C's Notes

Congratulations to Geison Urbaez who was named the Northwest League Pitcher of the Week for May 6-12. Urbaez spun five shutout innings without allowing a hit, issuing just three walks and striking out five on May 8 against Everett in an eventual C’s win against the AquaSox.

Congratulations to 2011 C’s outfielder Kevin Pillar who collected his 1,000th major league hit. The milestone knock was a two-run single that lifted the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-1 win over the host Texas Rangers on Sunday.

The C’s have activated catcher José Ferrer from the Development List. The 25-year-old from Carora, Venezuela made his Vancouver debut not behind the plate or in the batter’s box but on the mound. He allowed four runs in two-thirds of an inning during Game 2 of Saturday’s disastrous doubleheader. A 5-foot-11, 175-pound righthanded hitter, Ferrer has been assigned number 38.

2023 C’s first baseman Peyton Williams has begun a rehab assignment with the Florida Coast League Blue Jays. 2023-2024 pitcher Kevin Miranda and first baseman Brennan Orf are currently on the seven-day injured list after suffering injuries during the last homestand against Everett.

The 16-19 Vancouver Canadians continue their road trip on Tuesday as they visit the Hillsboro Hops.
