The Vancouver Canadians defeated the Everett AquaSox 6-1 at Nat Bailey Stadium on Sunday.

Everett starter Marcelo Perez was one strike away from getting out of the second inning but Je’Von Ward singled to left field on an 0-2 pitch for Vancouver’s first hit. Ward stole second base and scored on a Brennan Orf ground-rule double to left-center field. Bryce Arnold singled to right field but the inning ended when Orf was thrown out at the plate by Andrew Miller as Connor Charping applied the tag to complete the 9-2 putout.
Vancouver scored again in the fourth off Perez. Peyton Williams doubled to right field and got to third on a balk. A one-out ground-rule double to left by Nick Goodwin allowed Williams to trot home. Goodwin got to third on a groundout to short by Ward. After Orf kept the rally going with a walk, Arnold’s infield single to short scored Goodwin to make it 3-0.
Chris Jefferson took over for Perez in the fifth inning and his third pitch was belted over the wall in right-center field by Jace Bohrofen to increase the Vancouver lead to 4-0.
Jackson Hornung had a base hit to left but only got as far as second base on a wild pitch.
The scoring for Vancouver resumed in the bottom of the sixth against Anthony Tomczak. Ward led off with a double to and he would step on home plate after a trio of one-out walks to Arnold, Nic Deschamps and Bohrofen. The latter walk was issued by lefthander CJ Widger who then yielded a sacrifice fly to center field by Hornung to make it 6-0 for Monty’s Mounties.
The Sox spoiled the shutout in the eighth against JJ Sanchez in his C’s debut. A one-out infield single by Miller, a Michael Arroyo base hit to right and a base rap up the middle by Colt Emerson scored Miller. Emerson stole second but Sanchez did strike out the side by fanning Gabriel Moncada before getting Jared Sundstrom swinging and Caleb Cali looking.
C-Notes

Pat Gallagher put up five shutout innings for the victory. He began the game by striking out Arroyo before Emerson reached on a throwing error at second by Arnold. Emerson stole second and tagged up to go to third on a Sundstrom fly ball to center. Gallagher ended the inning by retiring Cali on a fly out to right.
Bill Knight had a leadoff walk in the second inning but Gallagher got the next three hitters that included a strikeout of Axel Sanchez.
Gallagher’s first three-up, three-down inning was in the third thanks to strikeouts of Miller and Arroyo.
In the fourth, Cali tripled to right-center with one out but Gallagher would keep him at third by whiffing Knight and Sanchez.
After a lengthy delay that saw home plate umpire Dylan Hulsey leave due to injury after taking a foul ball off the mask, Gallagher finished his day with a spotless fifth inning that featured a punchout of Moncada. Base umpire Jon Forster took over behind the plate and was a one-man show on the bases as well. A tip of the cap to Forster for getting this game across the finish line.
Irv Carter was introduced to the game by an Arroyo leadoff single to center in the sixth and Arroyo would steal second base. Carter rebounded by striking out Emerson and getting Sundstrom to line into a 5-4 inning-ending double play.
Carter also got through the seventh, stranding a two-out Axel Sanchez walk after being balked to second and stealing third.
Geison Urbaez had a perfect ninth, taking a Charping tapper to the mound and running to the first base bag to make the putout himself to end the game.
Deschamps was hit in the hand by a pitch by Perez to start the third inning but Perez still faced just three hitters by fanning Bohrofen and getting Hornung to hit into a 6-4-3 double play.
After Juan Burgos pitched a perfect seventh for Everett, Orf led off the bottom of the eighth with a walk and stole second base off Jimmy Kingsbury. Arnold picked up an infield hit to short but Kingsbury would get the next three men in order.
The Canadians play their final road series of the regular season on Tuesday as they visit the Hillsboro Hops. Game times are 7:05 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday and 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.
