The Vancouver Canadians lost 3-2 to the Spokane Indians in Game 3 of the Northwest League Championship Series at Gonzaga University on Friday.

The Canadians scored first in the top of the third against Spokane starter Victor Juarez. Brennan Orf got a base on balls and scored on an Adrian Pinto two-run home run to left-center field.

Peyton Williams singled to center field but Juarez struck out Je’Von Ward looking to complete the trifecta of Ks for the inning.

Spokane solved C’s starter Kendry Rojas in the fifth. Charlie Condon drew a leadoff walk and GJ Hill moved him to second with a one-out bloop single to right. Rojas struck out EJ Andrews Jr. but Andy Perez singled to left on the next pitch to bring in Condon. The inning ended when Rojas struck out Cole Carrigg swinging.

Spokane would take the lead in the sixth when Karros worked a one-out walk and José Cordova singled to center. A wild pitch by Rojas moved the runners up a base. Though Rojas struck out Condon, a wild pitch allowed Karros to score the tying run. Bryant Betancourt then flared a single to left to bring in Cordova. Jacob Sharp threw out Betancourt trying to steal second on a 2-4 putout to end the inning but the damage was done as Betancourt’s RBI single stood up as the winning run.

C's Notes

Rojas set down the side in order in the first , second and fourth innings. The first ended with a strikeout of Karros on a foul tip and the second began with a strikeout of Cordova. The fourth began with Dyan Jorge called out on strikes and ended with Cordova going down swinging again.

The first runner to reach against Rojas was Hill when Jay Harry mishandled a grounder to short. Rojas got Andrews on a bunt pop-up to Williams at first base before Andy Perez hit into a 4-6 fielder’s choice to force out Hill. The inning ended with a strikeout of Carrigg.

JJ Sánchez relieved Rojas to start the seventh and he got the first two men he faced, striking out Andrews for the second out before plunking Perez with a pitch. Grayson Thurman took over on the bump and loaded the bases when Carrigg walked and Jorge reached on an infield single to short. Thurman got out of the jam by retiring Karros on a fly ball to center.

Kai Peterson worked a flawless eighth that concluded with a called strikeout of Betancourt.

Pinto had the first hit of the night for Vancouver with a one-out single to center field. Cutter Coffey drew a walk with two outs in the fourth and Sharp singled to center to start the fifth but neither of them advanced past first base. Sharp singled again to left with two away in the seventh against Carlos Torres but that was the last baserunner for the C’s.
