It’s the 2024 Year in Review by the Numbers at C’s Plus Baseball as all numbered personnel in uniform for the 2024 Vancouver Canadians can be found here.

A total of 56 players suited up for Monty’s Mounties in 2024 with an even split of 28 position players and 28 pitchers. The latter number does not include two position players who appeared on the mound. This year’s total is an increase of one from the 55 players who saw action with the C’s in 2023.
- Jace Bohrofen and Jackson Hornung both played in a team-leading 112 games, the most of any player on the roster. José Ferrer and Kekai Rios appeared in the fewest with two apiece.
- Grayson Thurman had a team-best 48 appearances on the mound, JJ Sánchez had the fewest with four.
- The youngest pitcher was 21-year-old Kendry Rojas and the oldest was 25-year-old Justin Kelly.
- The youngest position player was 20-year-old Cutter Coffey and the oldest was 27-year-old Kekai Rios.
- There were nine different countries represented on this year’s roster (United States [36], Canada [4], Dominican Republic [4], Cuba [3], Panama [3], Venezuela [3], Brazil [1], England [1], Puerto Rico [1]).

2. Ashley Stephenson, player position coach
Notes – Mississauga, Ontario native became first female coach in C’s franchise history after being hired in January, 2023…Guest coach for one week with Florida Complex League Blue Jays in 2022…Served as instructor at Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy in 2015…Won bronze medal representing Canada at Women’s Baseball World Cup in 2005, 2006 and 2012 and silver in 2008 and silver medal at 2015 Pan-Am Games…In hockey, named Most Valuable Player of CIS National Championship tournament for national champion Wilfred Laurier in 2005…Played pro hockey with Burlington, Mississauga and Brampton.
Season Highlight – C’s defence turned 221 double plays and recorded 1,034 assists (an increase of 33 from 2023).

12. Ryan Wright, hitting coach
Notes – Completed fourth straight season with C’s since joining the Toronto Blue Jays organization in 2019…Head coach of the Kelowna Falcons of summer collegiate West Coast League in 2019…Assistant coach with Montana State University from 2017-2020…College infielder with the University of Utah, Treasure Valley Community College and Oklahoma City University, hitting .320 in two years at OCU and earning second-team academic All-American honours.
Season Highlight – C’s batters finished second in Northwest League with 214 doubles and third in walks with 484.

13. Deiferson Barreto, bench coach
Notes – Cagua, Venezuela native returned to Vancouver after playing for C’s in 2016 and 2017…Ignited two-run rally with one-out walk and scored tying run in clinching Game 4 of 2017 Northwest League Championship Series against Eugene…Batted. 272 with seven home runs and 113 runs batted in as infielder with the Toronto Blue Jays organization from 2012-2017 after signing as a free agent on September 23, 2011…Served as infield coach with Dominican Summer League Blue Jays from 2020-2023 and added bench coach duties in 2023.
Season Highlight – Has distinction of appearing in Northwest League Championship Series with C’s as player in 2017 and coach in 2024.

16. Eric Duncan, coach
Notes – Appeared as first base coach for C’s in 2024…Joined Toronto Blue Jays as minor league field coordinator in November 2022…2003 first-round pick of New York Yankees from Seton Hall Prep School in New Jersey…Also played with Atlanta, Colorado Rockies, St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals in organizations until 2012, batting .249 with 109 home runs in 1,006 games over 10-year minor league career…Served as hitting coach in Yankees system from 2015-2018…Joined Miami Marlins organization in 2018 and was assistant hitting coach in 2019 before being promoted to hitting coach in 2020.
Season Highlight – 2024 marked his 10th season in pro baseball as a coach/coordinator after 10-year minor league playing career.

29. Austin Bibens-Dirkx, pitching coach
Notes – Returned for second season with C’s after serving as bullpen coach in 2023…Pitching coach for 2023 Arizona Fall League champion Surprise Saguaros…Drafted by Seattle Mariners in 2006 and pitched for Everett in first pro season…Also pitched for Victoria Seals of the Golden West League in 2009…Spent time in Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals, Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations along with stints in Venezuela, China and Mexico…Former Blue Jays minor league pitcher (2015-2017)…Reached majors with Texas Rangers in 2017 and 2018 and won seven games over 114-1/3 innings.
Season Highlight – C’s pitching staff placed third in Northwest League in ERA (4.01), second in WHIP (1.30) and second in hits per nine innings (8.0) with the starters logging 608 innings.

37. Carson Phillips, bullpen coach
Notes – Wore number 35 to start the season before switching to number 37…Joined Toronto organization in 2023 and served as bullpen coach for Triple-A Buffalo in 2023…Graduate assistant pitching coach at University of Arizona…Pitched at Dixie State University from 2019-2022…Now with Texas Rangers organization as bullpen coach at Double-A Frisco.
Season Highlight – C’s bullpen led Northwest League in batting average against (.227) and tied for second in saves (35) and WHIP (1.31) in 506 innings.
