C-Notes

Arjun Nimmala has a seven-game hitting streak on the go and has reached base at least once in eight straight games. He served as the C’s designated hitter throughout the entire series in Spokane, except for Friday when he got the night off. Nimmala has a shoulder ailment but at least it is not affecting his bat in the early going as he has slashed .324/.395/.588 with two homers in the early going.
The only damper on Sunday’s series finale win in Spokane was the exit of lefthander Connor O’Halloran as he left the game with two outs in the third inning with an injury, pointing to his left elbow. Kevin Miranda—who relieved O’Halloran on Sunday—may have had a flashback as he had to leave a game against Everett at The Nat last season with an injury during warmups. Vancouver has been going to a five-man starting rotation to begin the year, a departure from the starting sextet they have employed for the last few seasons.
Fernando Perez gets the honour of starting the home opener against the Eugene Emeralds on Tuesday. The first pitch is set for 7:05 pm at Nat Bailey Stadium. The game is on CanadiansBaseball.com and BallySports.com with Tyler Zickel and Chris Georges on the call.
The rest of the rotation will see Grant Rogers, Jackson Wentworth and Juaron Watts-Brown cover Wednesday, Thursday and Friday respectively. Starters are TBA for Saturday and Sunday.
Vancouver has been money in the bank when leading after seven innings and eight innings, going a perfect 5-0 so far this season.
The Canadians are third in on-base percentage (.354) and on-base-plus-slugging percentage (.776) but are second in slugging at (.422) in the six-team Northwest League. Jay Harry and Adrian Pinto are off to hot starts with an OPS at 1.273 and 1.053 respectively.
On the mound, Vancouver has the league’s best earned run average at 3.13 and best WHIP (walks + hits / innings pitched) at 1.30 while issuing the fewest walks (30) in 77-2/3 innings. Grant Rogers has given up just one unearned run over 10 innings while Juaron Watts-Brown has a 1.93 ERA and a team-leading 16 strikeouts, six ahead of Rogers.
Chay Yeager (5IP), Pat Gallagher (4.2IP), Bo Bonds (4.1IP) and Kai Peterson (2.1IP) have not given up a run yet with Yeager collecting the team’s only save on the year.
C-Changes

The only roster transactions over the past week were catchers Jackson Hornung and Hayden Gilliland being activated from the Development List. They have yet to see any action so far in 2025.
