C’s Recap – 2025 Year in Review by the Numbers – C's Plus Baseball

Welcome to the 2025 Year in Review by the Numbers at C’s Plus Baseball, which looks at everyone who wore a number with the Vancouver Canadians this past season.

There were 59 players consisting of 32 pitchers and 27 position players who donned the uniform for Monty’s Mounties, an increase of three from 2024. The pitching total does not include two position players who saw time on the mound. There were also eight coaches, including a midseason change and a cameo appearance from a Gold Glove center fielder.

There were nine different countries represented on this year’s roster (United States [36], Canada [4], Dominican Republic [4], Cuba [3], Panama [3], Venezuela [3], Brazil [1], England [1], Puerto Rico [1]).
The American-born players came from 16 different states (California [8], Texas [4], Massachusetts [3], New Jersey [3], Pennsylvania [3], Georgia [2], Missouri [2], Oklahoma [2], Virginia [2], Florida [1], Hawaii [1], Indiana [1], Iowa [1], Louisiana [1], Tennessee [1], Utah [1]).
The Canadian-born players came from two provinces (Ontario [3], Quebec [1]). Arjun Nimmala played the most games with 120, one more than Sean Keys. Eddie Micheletti (106) and Carter Cunningham (102) also reached the century mark in games played.
JJ Sánchez had a team-leading 35 mound appearances after having the fewest (4) in 2024. Colby Martin, Hayden Gilliland and Peyton Powell were tied for the fewest with one appearance, with the latter two being position players.
The youngest position player was 19-year-old Arjun Nimmala and the oldest was 25-year-old Je’Von Ward.
The youngest pitcher was 21-year-old Fernando Perez and the oldest was 27-year-old Nate Garkow.
Seven countries were represented on the roster (United States [43], Venezuela [6], Canada [4], Dominican Republic [3], Cuba [1], Nicaragua [1], Panama [1])
The American-born players came from 19 different states (California [9], Texas [6], Florida [3], New Jersey [3], Alabama [2], Illinois [2], Indiana [2], Massachusetts [2], Missouri [2], New York [2], Pennsylvania [2], Tennessee [2], Delaware [1], Iowa [1], Maryland [1], Nevada [1], North Carolina [1], South Carolina [1].
The Canadian-born players hailed from three different provinces (Ontario [2], British Columbia [1], Quebec [1]).

Notes – Belted first home run of the season for the C’s on Opening Night at Tri-City on April 4…Reached base safely in 16 of 18 games…Batted .412 in the first inning…All seven homers came on the road to help him post a 1.220 OPS away from The Nat…Placed on seven-day injured list on May 16 and missed the rest of the season.

Season Highlight – Homered on the first pitch of the game and homered again with a double in win at Spokane May 7 to earn Northwest League Player of the Week honours for May 5-11.

#1. Juanmi Vasquez, LHP

Notes – Promoted to Vancouver from Dunedin on August 12 after beginning season at Florida Complex League…Made Northwest League debut with two shutout innings and three strikeouts in victory against Spokane on August 16…Three of five appearances were scoreless, including three shutout innings and six strikeouts versus Everett to collect the save on September 6.

Season Highlight – Earned first Northwest League save with 2.1 perfect innings with three strikeouts against Tri-City on August 22.

#2. Victor Arias, OF

Notes – Made season debut at Tri-City on April 4…First Northwest League home run a game-winning two-run shot in the eighth inning against Eugene on April 18…Had four hits and scored three runs in win versus Hillsboro on April 29…Placed on seven-day injured list on May 10 and was activated on May 20…Doubled twice, singled and walked in win against Spokane on June 11…Homered, singled twice, walked, drove in two runs and stole a base in victory at Eugene on June 17…Batted .310 in April and .316 in June…Promoted to Double-A New Hampshire on July 18…Finished second on the C’s with 12 stolen bases in 16 tries…Named C’s MVP.

Season Highlight – Won Northwest League Player of the Week for April 14-20 after going 8-for-20 with two doubles, a home run, seven runs scored, four RBI, five walks and two stolen bases in five games against Eugene.

#2. Jacob Lojewski, 3B/C

Notes – Promoted from Low-A Dunedin to Vancouver on July 29…First Northwest League hit was double at Tri-City on August 2…Singled and scored a run against Hillsboro on August 10…Released by the Toronto Blue Jays on August 15…Made one start at third base and one start at catcher.

Season Highlight – Singled, scored a run and threw out two basestealers in win at Spokane on August 14.

#2. Tucker Toman, 3B

Notes – Promoted from Low-A Dunedin on August 15…Hit by pitch in first AB with the C’s and added RBI single in win at Spokane on August 16…Doubled, singled and had bases-loaded walk in victory at Spokane on August 17…RBI single, sacrifice fly and hit by pitch in triumph at Spokane on August 19…Went 2-for-4 with game-tying RBI single and scored winning run in 8th inning against Tri-City on August 20…Singled to extend hit streak to five games against Tri-City on August 21…Doubled home two runs and drew two walks in win at Hillsboro on August 28…Went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in victory against Everett on September 4…Made 10 starts at third base.

Season Highlight – Went 3-for-3 with walk in win against Everett on September 6.

#3. JJ Sánchez, LHP

Notes – Stranded two runners and struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings in victory at Tri-City on April 6…Tossed 2.1 scoreless IP and struck out two against Eugene on April 18…Had six straight scoreless appearances from May 13-June 4…Earned save after two innings of one-run ball and struck out three against Spokane on June 15…Notched third save of the season with a shutout inning and one strikeout at Hillsboro on August 30…Finished season with seven straight scoreless outings from August 12-September 7…Led C’s with 35 appearances…Released by the Toronto Blue Jays on January 12, 2026.

Season Highlight – Picked up save in Game 1 of doubleheader against Tri-City on June 28 with two shutout innings and one strikeout.

#4. Irv Carter, RHP

Notes – Pitched 2.1 innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts and stranded a runner to earn victory at Spokane on April 12…Transferred to Development List on May 6 and activated on May 20…Got the win with three shutout stanzas and struck out three against Hillsboro on May 30…Earned hold with three scoreless frames and four strikeouts against Tri-City on June 27…Won consecutive appearances at Everett (2IP 0R 3K) at Everett on July 6 and at Hillsboro (3IP, 0R 1K) on July 10…Had 2.25 ERA in road games…Finished in four-way tie in team lead for victories with six.

Season Highlight – Picked up first Northwest League save with four innings of one-run ball while whiffing four batters versus Hillsboro on August 7.

#5. Aaron Munson, RHP

Notes – Struck out two over two shutout stanzas to finish victory at Spokane on April 12…Earned hold with two shutout innings in victory against Everett on May 13…Stranded a runner and tossed 2.1IP of shutout ball with four strikeouts to get the win at Tri-City on June 7…Credited with hold after three shutout stanzas in victory against Everett on July 3…Did not give up a run in three July appearances covering 5.2IP before going on the seven-day injured list on July 22…Picked up win with two shutout innings versus Hillsboro on August 9…Only gave up one run in August and September combined covering seven appearances and 10.2 innings to end the year…Limited hitters to a .183 batting average at The Nat.

Season Highlight – Sat down all nine hitters he faced and struck one to collect the win against Spokane on June 13.

#6. Aaron Parker, C

Notes – Reached base safely in all 13 games in April to begin Northwest League career, including a 10-game hitting streak from April 8-26…Batted .265 and slugged .469 in April…Doubled and drew three walks at Hillsboro on May 2…Had three-hit night and drove in four runs, including bases-clearing three-run double, in victory at Eugene on May 25…Recorded three straight two-hit games from June 13-15 to end stretch of five multi-hit efforts over six games…Homered, singled and walked in win at Eugene June 19…Batted. 260 and slugged .455 in June…Spent three separate stints on the seven-day injured list in July and August…Got a base hit in victory against Hillsboro in his last game of the season on August 9…Batted .271 in day games…Made 50 starts behind the plate.

Season Highlight – Finished a double short of the cycle in 3-for-4 effort during win at Spokane on May 9.

#6. Hayden Gilliland, C

Notes – Signed with the Toronto Blue Jays as a free agent from Tennessee Tech on July 21, 2024…Began season on Development List…Wore number 35 to start the year…Made professional debut by walking in his first two plate appearances and singling home two runs in victory against Hillsboro on April 30…Promoted to Double-A New Hampshire on May 28 and returned to Vancouver on June 3…Singled twice and drove in three runs in win versus Spokane on June 12…Batted .286 in June…Belted first home run and doubled in win at Everett on July 4…Placed on seven-day injured list on July 18…Sent to Low-A Dunedin on July 27 and returned to Vancouver on August 15…Wore number 6 to honour injured teammate Aaron Parker…Singled and walked and doubled and walked against Everett on September 2 and September 5 respectively.

Season Highlight – Hit tie-breaking three-run home run to punctuate four-run eighth-inning comeback in win against Tri-City on August 20.

#7. Nick Goodwin, 2B/SS

Notes – Walked and hit a two-run homer in his first two at-bats of the season in win at Tri-City on April 6…RBI single opened scoring and belted a three-run homer in shutout win at Eugene on May 24…Homered again at Eugene on May 25 to cap off two-hit night and seven-run 10th inning rally in victory…Collected single and ignited 8th-inning rally with three-run home run in 10th inning walkoff win against Hillsboro on June 1…Drove in winning run with two-run single, walked and homered at Tri-City on June 6…Homered again and singled in triumph at Tri-City on June 7…Had another two-hit game that included go-ahead seventh-inning grand slam in win at Tri-City on June 8…Named Northwest League Player of the Week for June 2-8 after hitting .421 with five home runs and 12 runs batted in …Slugged .594 in June…Singled three times in victory versus Hillsboro on August 7…Three-hit night with two doubles and drew a walk in victory at Spokane on August 12…Homered for game-winning RBI and singled in victory at Spokane on August 17…Batted. 319 in August…Batted .287 and slugged .509 on the road…Had .993 OPS against left-handers…Stole 10 bases in 13 attempts…Made 65 starts at second base, 14 at shortstop and four at base.

Season Highlight – Second home run of the night was a two-run shot in the ninth inning as part of three-hit effort in come-from-behind win at Tri-City on June 3.

#8. Gabby Martinez, OF

Notes – Assigned to Development List on April 5 before being activated by Double-A New Hampshire on April 18…Assigned to Vancouver on May 13…Had two-hit efforts against Everett May 15 and May 18, doubling twice in the latter contest…Recorded pair of two-hit games at Eugene on May 22 and May 24, scoring the winning run and driving in another in the May 24 win…Doubled twice in victory at Tri-City on June 3…Made seven starts apiece in center field and right field and one in left field…Returned to New Hampshire on June 4…Played winter ball for Zulia in Venezuelan Winter League…Elected free agency on November 6.

Season Highlight – Singled, walked twice and hit by pitch for a perfect night at the plate in victory against Everett on May 14 in his first game at Nat Bailey Stadium since the clinching Game 4 of the 2023 Northwest League Championship Series against the Aqua Sox.

#8. Bryce Arnold, LF/2B

Notes – Grimsby, Ontario native promoted from Low-A Dunedin on June 23…Sacrifice fly, walk and run scored came in win against Everett on July 2…Singled, walked and scored two runs in victory against Everett on July 3…Had RBI double and scored winning run at Hillsboro on July 9…Two-run single included game-winning RBI against Spokane on July 18…Hit ninth-inning game-tying home run against Eugene on July 25 and was also hit by pitch with two runs scored…Bases-loaded walk, single and run scored came in victory against Eugene on July 26…Homered, singled, walked and scored three runs in win at Spokane on August 12…Walked and scored a run to extend on-base streak to 16 games in victory at Spokane on August 13…Made 22 starts in left field and three starts at second base…Released by the Toronto Blue Jays on August 15…Signed a deal with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association on February 2.

#8. Matt Scannell, OF

Notes – Signed by the Toronto Blue Jays as a free agent from Wake Forest on July 22…Assigned to Low-A Dunedin on July 29…Promoted to Vancouver on August 15…Singled in Northwest League debut in triumph at Spokane on August 16…Singled in what proved to be the winning run versus Tri-City on August 24 after entering game as a defensive replacement in center field…Put together three-game hitting streak at Hillsboro on August 28, 29 and 31 with two walks in the latter contest…Made six starts in center field and three in right field.

Season Highlight – Belted first Northwest League home run, a three-run shot, to cap off win at Spokane on August 17.

#9. Kevin Miranda, RHP

Notes – Pitched scoreless inning and earned hold in season debut during victory at Tri-City on April 5…Allowed one run over three innings and struck out four to get the win at Spokane on April 9…Stranded a runner and pitched 2-1/3 shutout innings to pick up the victory at Spokane on April 13…Promoted to Double-A New Hampshire on May 20 and placed on Development List…Activated by New Hampshire on May 31…Released by the Toronto Blue Jays on June 28.

Season Highlight – Gave up two runs (one earned) and struck out three over five innings to earn win against Everett on May 13.

#9. Sam Shaw, OF

Notes – Victoria, BC native promoted from Low-A Dunedin on July 18…Singled and scored against Spokane on July 20…Walked and scored against Eugene on July 22…Made seven starts in center field…Placed on seven-day injured list on August 3 and moved to full-season injured list on August 31…Activated from full-season injured list on November 6.

Season Highlight – RBI double and single came against Spokane on July 19.

#10. Juaron Watts-Brown, RHP

Notes – Tossed 4-2/3 shutout innings and struck out 10 in win at Tri-City on April 6…Fanned six and gave up two runs in 4-2/3 innings in victory at Spokane on April 12…Surrendered two runs and struck out 10 batters over four innings in triumph over Hillsboro on April 30 to end month with a 3.57 earned run average…Suffered hard-luck loss despite one run allowed and eight Ks over five innings against Everett on May 18…Promoted to Double-A New Hampshire on May 20…Traded by the Toronto Blue Jays to the Baltimore Orioles for righthander Seranthony Domínguez and cash on July 29.

Season Highlight – Tossed a two-hitter and struck out 10 over six shutout innings at Spokane on May 11.

#10. Jay Harry, UTIL

#11. Pat Gallagher, RHP

Notes – Tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts to collect hold in win at Tri-City on April 5…Struck out five over 2.1IP shutout frames at Everett on April 24…Stranded both inherited runners and pitched 1.1IP with a strikeout to collect win against Hillsboro on April 30, ending the month with a 1.38 ERA…Stretch of five scoreless outings continued into victories on May 3 versus Hillsboro (2IP, 3K), May 9 at Spokane (2IP, 2K) and May 14 against Everett (1.2IP, 2K)…Allowed just four unearned runs in May…Stranded a runner and pitched 2.2 innings with five Ks to pick up win against Spokane on June 11…Earned fourth hold with two goose eggs and three Ks on June 15…Scattered two hits and struck out five over 3.1 innings to get the win at Eugene on June 19…Promoted to Double-A New Hampshire on June 24.

Season Highlight – First start of season resulted in four no-hit frames with one walk and four whiffs in win against Eugene on May 24.

#12. Peyton Powell, UTIL/RHP

Notes – Promoted from Low-A Dunedin on July 18…Singled in C’s debut versus Spokane on July 20…Walked three times and scored a run in victory at Tri-City on July 31…Posted .368 OBP in July…Went 2-for-3 with three walks and an RBI in win at Hillsboro on August 28…Singled twice and knocked in a run in victory against Everett on September 4…Made nine starts in left field, six at first base, three behind the plate and one in right field…Released by the Toronto Blue Jays on January 12.

Season Highlight – Earned victory with three innings of one earned run allowed in 11-inning win against Eugene on July 24.

#15. Brennan Orf, 1B/OF

Notes – Collected RBI double, single, walk and scored twice in victory at Tri-City on April 6…Contributed bases-loaded walk and single in win at Spokane on April 9…Three-run triple and walk came in victory at Spokane on April 12…Singled and scored two runs in win at Spokane on April 13…Had game-winning RBI single against Eugene on April 16…Two-run single, two walks and a stolen base contributed to win against Eugene on April 17 to stretch hitting streak to seven games (April 6-17)…Placed on seven-day injured list on May 3…Placed on full-season injured list on June 13…Made 11 starts at first base, four in left field and one in right field…Activated from full-season injured list on November 6.

Season Highlight – Walked and had a bases-clearing double in ninth inning which led to eventual 10-inning win at Everett on April 27.

#15. Trey Yesavage, RHP

Notes – Promoted from Low-A Dunedin on May 20…Struck out 10 while allowing just two runs over four innings at Eugene on May 20…Gave up just one hit over four shutout frames and struck out nine in victory at Eugene on May 25…Pitched 4.1 shutout frames without allowing a hit against Hillsboro in lone Nat Bailey Stadium appearance in victory against Hillsboro on May 31…Promoted to Double-A New Hampshire on June 12…Struck out lone batter he faced in Future Stars Game in Atlanta on July 12…Promoted to Triple-A Buffalo on August 12…Promoted to Toronto for Major League debut and struck out nine batters over five innings of one-run ball in victory on September 15…Earned first major league win with five shutout innings and five Ks versus Tampa Bay on September 27…Walked just one batter over five no-hit innings to collect win in Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees on October 5…Credited with victory after tossing 5.2IP of two-run ball with seven strikeouts in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series against Seattle on October 19…Won Game 5 of the World Series with seven innings of one-run ball and 12 Ks at the Los Angeles Dodgers on October 29.

#15. Javen Coleman, LHP

Notes – Promoted from Low-A Dunedin on June 25…Pitched two shutout innings and struck out four in C’s debut against Tri-City on June 28…Stranded runner and struck out two over 1.2 perfect innings to earn hold in victory against Everett on July 2…Recorded second straight hold with two shutout stanzas and two whiffs in win at Everett on July 5…Punched out six batters over 3.1 innings of one-hit ball against Eugene on July 23…Struck out three over two perfect frames against Eugene on July 26…Had 1.93 ERA in July…Earned first Northwest League save by giving up one run but getting the final two outs at Spokane on August 13…Notched second save with two strikeouts over one inning against Tri-City on August 20…Posted 1.17 ERA in August…Struck out a batter in a perfect ninth and got the win when C’s walked it off against Tri-City on August 23…Punctuated season by striking out the side in last inning of work against Everett on September 7…Earned non-roster invite to spring training by the Toronto Blue Jays on January 21.

Season Highlight – Named Northwest League Pitcher of the Week for July 21-27 with 5.1 no-hit, scoreless innings in which he walked one and whiffed nine.

Notes – Helped C’s pitchers record lowest team ERA of 3.67, fewest walks (506), most strikeouts (1,311), strikeout/walk ratio (2.59) and best WHIP (1.287) in the Northwest League…Richland, Washington native pitched for the San Diego Padres in 2019 and the Milwaukee Brewers in 2020 and 2021…Will be back as C’s pitching coach in 2026.

#34. Robelin Bautista, assistant pitching coach

Notes – Helped C’s bullpen record 30 saves and contribute to a league-best 1,166.1 innings pitched with Eugene…Served as pitching coach with the Dominican Summer League Blue Jays in 2023 and 2024…Will serve as assistant pitching coach at Double-A New Hampshire in 2026.

#39. Kevin Kiermaier, outfield instructor-first base coach
