The Vancouver Canadians got by the Spokane Indians 5-4 at Avista Stadium on Saturday.

The C’s put up picket fences for the first three innings against Spokane starter Yujanyer Herrera. A one-out single to right field by Jace Bohrofen resulted in an extra base when Jake Snider booted the ball. Cutter Coffey singled to left with two outs to score Bohrofen who just beat the throw home with a headfirst slide to make it 1-0 Vancouver. In the second, Jay Harry doubled to right and Nick Goodwin singled to right to put runners on the corners. Brennan Orf got Harry home with a sacrifice fly to left. Peyton Williams added to the lead with a two-out solo shot to right field in the third.
Vancouver scored again in the sixth off Herrera when Je’Von Ward singled to center field with two outs. Harry then singled to right after the ball deflected off José Cordova at first. Ward just kept motoring around the bases and scored all the way from first.
Grant Rogers was dialled in on the mound for Vancouver before the connection dropped in the sixth. Jean Perez started the inning with an infield single to second and Dyan Jorge doubled to left with one out to get Perez to third. A Jacob Sharp passed ball allowed Perez to score Spokane’s first run. A Kyle Karros sac fly to right brought in Jorge to cut the Vancouver lead in half at 4-2. Skyler Messinger singled to right and Bryant Betancourt singled to left to put runners at first and third. Betancourt stole second base before Cordova doubled off the right field wall just beyond the grasp of Ward to drive in Messinger and Betancourt to tie the game.
The C’s would break the tie in the ninth. Harry cued one to short for an infield single with one out off Bryson Hammer and managed to get to third when Hammer’s pickoff throw missed the mark. Goodwin chopped an infield single toward the right side of the infield. Hammer and Perez bumped into each other allowing Goodwin to reach base safely and bringing in Harry.
Monty’s Mounties used a new defensive alignment in the outfield for the bottom of the ninth with Marcos De La Rosa entering the game in center field,Bohrofen moving from center to right and Ward switching sides from right to left.Orf was in left field but was replaced by Jackson Hornung as a pinch-hitter in the ninth. Bo Bonds was back on the mound for a third inning of work and Cordova was the first runner to reach base against Bonds with a one-out walk. Bonds struck out GJ Hill before pinch-runner EJ Andrews Jr. stole second and got to third on a Sharp throwing error. The game ended when Bonds retired Snider on a fly ball to left.
C-Notes

Rogers was rolling in the early going. He got Karros to hit into a 4-6-3 double play to erase a one-out Jorge walk in the first and pulled the plug on Messinger and Betancourt with strikeouts to work around a Cordova single to left. A 6-4-3 double play off the bat of Cole Carrigg wiped out a Jorge hit by pitch in the third. After recording three groundouts in the fourth, Rogers stranded a two-out knock to right by Hill in the fifth.
Bonds did not yield any baserunners in the seventh and eighth innings. He struck out Snider and Perez to start the seventh and fanned Messinger to end the eighth.
The C’s had a couple of runners on with two outs in the fifth and seventh when Pinto reached on a Jorge throwing error at short and a Sharp single to center respectively.
Goodwin stole second base in the ninth after his RBI single but was also stranded in the ninth.
