The Vancouver Canadians got past the Everett AquaSox 4-3 at Nat Bailey Stadium on Tuesday.

The AquaSox grabbed a 1-0 lead two batters into the top of the second. Jared Sundstrom led off with a triple to right off C’s starter Pat Gallagher. A sacrifice fly to left by Caleb Cali brought in Sundstrom for the first run of the game.
The C’s would tie it in the bottom of the third when Robert Brooks took AquaSox starter Ty Cummings deep over the center field wall for his first professional home run.
The Frogs would take the lead again with a two-out rally in the sixth against Gallagher. Michael Arroyo singled to left and stole second base before scoring on an R.J. Schreck base hit to left.
The Canadians responded in the bottom of the sixth which started with an Estiven Machado triple to the right field corner. He would come home on a Marcos De La Rosa double to right to tie the game at 2-2. Dasan Brown would untie it when he launched a two-run home run to left off Cummings.
Jackson Hornung drew a walk and that was the last hitter Cummings would face. Chris Jefferson was brought in to finish the frame.
After Chay Yeager kept the Frogs at bay in the seventh and eighth innings, Grayson Thurman gave up a leadoff homer to Schreck in the ninth. Josh Hood got aboard on an infield single that De La Rosa could not cleanly grab at third but Thurman got the next three hitters in order, with Fitz-Gerald grounding out to short for the final out.
C-Notes

Gallagher enjoyed a 1-2-3 first inning after Brown sprinted towards the center field fence to snare a fly ball just before the warning track to end the frame. He knocked down a comebacker from Hunter Fitz-Gerald and struck out Andrew Miller to get out of the second. Fitz-Gerald lost the handle on his bat earlier in the plate appearance and it caromed off the netting before being caught by Miller with no harm done.
A strikeout of Colin Davis in the top of the third started and a Fitz-Gerald strikeout wiht two outs in the fifth helped Gallagher retire nine hitters in a row. Davis struck out looking and Axel Sánchez went down swinging to give Gallagher a stretch of 13 straight hitters retired.
Yeager worked a perfect seventh inning and struck out Miller swinging and Davis looking to start the eighth. Only Sánchez got aboard with a single to left.
Dylan Rock had a one-out base hit to left in the bottom of the fifth but was picked off by Cummings.
De La Rosa was clipped on the left leg with one out by Anthony Tomczak and stole second base. Peyton Williams drew a walk after Tomczak was called for a pitch clock violation and Brown walked with two outs but lefty Blake Townsend was brought in to get Je’Von Ward to foul out to third.
On Tuesday’s broadcast, it was revealed why Sánchez was upset after his strikeout by Conor Larkin to end the eighth inning. Replays showed Sánchez’s bat hit Brooks in the left forearm above his catching hand and Brooks took exception. Apparently, the two resolved their differences by bumping fists before Sánchez’s first plate appearance in the third inning. Brooks was not in the starting lineup originally as Jommer Hernández was a late scratch.
Lefty Connor O’Halloran gets to chuck the first pitch against Everett on Wednesday. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. Tyler Zickel and Chris Georges will have the play-by-play on CanadiansBaseball.com and MiLB.TV.
2022 C’s outfielder and fan favourite Steward Berroa has been called back up by the Toronto Blue Jays. Berroa has appeared in the outfield and on the bases but not in the batter’s box as of yet. He will join his 2022 C’s teammates Leo Jiménez, Addison Barger and Davis Schneider with the big club.
C-Changes

Righthander Ryan Jennings has been promoted to Double-A New Hampshire. The 25-year-old from San Antonio had a 2.13 earned run average and struck out 56 batters against 19 walks in 50-2/3 innings. Though he never got credited with a win, Jennings will be fondly remembered for contributing three shutout innings to set the tone in the clinching Game 4 of the Northwest League Championship Series against Everett. All the best to Ryan in Manchester.
Utility man Jamari Baylor and pitcher Chris McElvain have been placed on the injured list. Lefthander Kendry Rojas made a rehab start with Low-A Dunedin on Tuesday. He pitched four innings and gave up three runs against Clearwater.
Meanwhile, first baseman Brennan Orf and outfielder Roque Salinas are on rehab stints in the Florida Complex League.
