The Vancouver Canadians were thumped 9-3 by the Emeralds on Wednesday before rebounding with a 15-4 victory at Nat Bailey on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Rodolfo Nolasco put Eugene ahead with a leadoff home run to center field off Vancouver starter Juaron Watts-Brown in the second inning.
The Emeralds tacked on another run in the top of the third. Alex Suarez singled to left to begin the frame, stole second base and got to third on a Jonah Cox infield single to short. Suarez and Cox tried to execute a double steal but Suarez was thrown out at home on a 2-4-2 play with Jay Harry making the throw to Jacob Sharp at the plate. Sharp did well to hang onto the ball after Suarez made contact with his glove hand. A wild pitch and a two-out single to center by Bryce Eldridge got Cox home.
The Canadians got on the board against Em’s starter Manuel Mercedes in the bottom of the third. Brennan Orf doubled to left, Victor Arias reached on an infield single to second and Cutter Coffey lifted a sacrifice fly to left to bring in Orf.
Eugene restored its two-run advantage in the fourth on a Cole Foster one-out single that scored a Charlie Szykowny leadoff walk.
Bo Bonds pitched the fifth for the Canadians and he was roughed up for three runs. A Szykowny one-out double to center field scored an Eldrige walk after Jace Bohrofen lost sight of the ball in right, Luke Shliger singled to right to drive in a Nolasco single up the middle and Szykowny scored on a Cole Foster base hit to left.
The C’s drew to within three when Je’Von Ward whacked a two-run homer to right to score a Peyton Williams walk.
That left Merceds an out short of qualifying for a decision as Tommy Kane entered the game from the Eugene bullpen.
The Emeralds began to pull away in the sixth against Geison Urbaez. Onil Perez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run to score an Eldrige walk.
Against Irv Carter in the seventh, a passed ball by Sharp scored a Suarez single to left after the latter stole second and got to third on a Cox tapper back to the mound.
Suarez scored the final run of the game in the ninth when he doubled to left off Carter, swiped third on a Cox walk and came home on an Eldridge RBI groundout to first.

On Thursday, The Em’s scored first off C’s starter Connor O’Halloran in the third inning. Scott Bandura led off with a single off the right field wall and went to third on a Quinn McDaniel double to left as Brennan Orf could not hang on to the ball after crashing into the short left field fence. A Sabin Ceballos sacrifice fly to right brought in Bandura for the game’s first run. McDaniel also advanced to third on the fly ball but was left at third when O’Halloran struck out Charlie Szykowny.

The Canadians responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the third against Emeralds starter Cesar Perdomo. The inning began when Perdomo plunked Nic Deschamps. An Adrian Pinto infield single to second got Deschamps into scoring position and Jackson Hornung brought home the Quebec City native with the tying run. Peyton Williams hit a grounder to short and Cole Foster threw out Pinto at the plate to keep the game tied.
Vancouver would take the lead for good in the fourth. Cutter Coffey hit a leadoff double to right field and scored on a Nick Goodwin home run to left-center field. One out later, Deschamps made it to second when Cox dropped a fly ball in center. That was the end of the night for Perdomo who left due to injury. Cody Tucker was brought in and gave up a two-out base hit to left by Hornung. A double to center by Williams scored Deschamps to make it 4-1 C’s. Jace Bohrofen singled to right to drive in Williams and Hornung and Coffey cashed in Ward with a base knock to left.
Eugene got two runs off O’Halloran in the fifth. Scott Bandura was hit by a pitch with one out and scored on a two-out double to right by Bryce Eldridge. Sabin Ceballos singled to center to drive in Eldrige.
The C’s matched those two runs in the bottom half of inning five against Tucker. A Pinto double to left scored an Orf single to right field and a Deschamps walk.
Vancouver continued to pour it on in the sixth against Austin Strickland. A leadoff walk and stolen base by Ward were driven in by a Bohrofen base rap to right for the C’s 10th run. Onil Perez was shaken up in a collision with Ward at the plate but the Emeralds backstop stayed in the game. Orf doubled to left with two outs to score Bohrofen.
Strickland was also roughed up in the seventh. Pinto singled to left and Hornung singled to right to start the inning. A Williams fly out to left moved Pinto to third and Cole Foster booted a ball at short that allowed Pinto to score. Bohrofen then blasted one over the wall in right-center for a three-run homer.
The Em’s scored their last run in the ninth when Bandura worked a two-out walk against Aaron Munson and scampered home on a Quinn McDaniel double to center.
C-Notes

Two early signs that Wednesday was not going to be a good night for Vancouver came in the bottom of the first. Cutter Coffey drew a one-out walk and went to second on a Williams single to center but was thrown out at the plate by Cox on a Jace Bohrofen single up the middle. The inning ended with a strike three call against Ward.
On Thursday, Deschamps threw out Onil Perez trying to steal third on a 2-6-5 play to end the second inning.
Before Elridge’s RBI double in the fifth, Bohrofen made a nice leaping grab near the center field wall to take away a hit from McDaniel.
Alex Amalfi put together three shutout innings and picked off Nolasco at second after the latter had doubled to left.
Kendry Rojas will get the ball for Vancouver in a Friday afternoon showdown with Eugene. Game time is 1:05 p.m. at Nat Bailey Stadium.
