2013 Vancouver Canadians pitcher Chase De Jong was called up to the Seattle Mariners Monday. The transaction column contained good news for one former Vancouver Canadian but bad news for two others. The good news saw righthander Chase De Jong getting called up to the Seattle Mariners just before their season opener in Houston Monday as fellow pitcher Dillon Overton went on paternity leave. It’s disappointing Bud Selig and company chose not to hold a moment of silence prior to Game 2 of the World Series for the shooting tragedy that happened in Ottawa Tuesday morning that claimed the life of reservist soldier Nathan Cirillo.
