The Vancouver Canadians were humiliated in Hillsboro as they lost 13-4 at Ron Tonkin Field Monday. That gave the Hops a third straight win after dropping the series opener to the C’s.
The Hops got to C’s starter Juan Diaz for two runs in the third inning with RBI singles from Kristian Robinson and Jorge Barrosa.
It stayed that way when Adams Cuevas—after working two shutout innings—could not retire the first two hitters he faced in the sixth. Nicolas Medina then proceeded to allow RBI singles by Lucas Herbert and Nick Grande, an RBI double by Ricky Martinez and more run-scoring knocks from Steven Leyton, Daniel Wasinger, Robinson and Barrosa to make it 9-0 Hillsboro.
Gage Burland relieved Medina by getting the final out of the sixth but he was gonged for four more runs after a Leyton run-scoring double, an Andy Yerzy single, a Robinson base knock and a Herbert hit by pitch which was thrown by Grayson Huffman. The lefthander would plunk two hitters but struck out three in the final 1-1/3 frames.
The Canadians finally responded in the ninth when Dominic Abbadessa singled off Jose Almonte to score a Will Robertson hit by pitch. Cameron Eden would single home a Ryan Sloniger single and Ronny Brito walk against Erin Baldwin, who threw a wild pitch to bring in the other run.
C-Notes

The C’s could not solve Luis Frias as he struck out nine over five innings. Vancouver’s best chance to score came in the third when Abbadessa singled and got to second on a wild pitch but a tapper back to the mound saw Abbadessa get thrown out on a 1-5-6 play.
Abbadessa walked with one away in the fifth and Eden singled with two outs but Trevor Schwecke struck out to end that uprising.
Langley, BC native Jake Polancic pitched a shutout sixth for the Hops by stranding a McGregory Conreras walk. Almonte pitched the seventh and eighth without incident before running out of gas in the ninth.
Sloniger picked up his first professional base hit and scored a run during that ninth inning rally. He is wearing #40.
