Mitchell also lists where he expects each prospect to begin the 2023 minor league season. He projects Dominguez (48), Dallas (37), Van Eyk (36), Nuñez (27), De Jesus (23), Brown (17), Gabby Martinez (11) and Santos (10) returning to Vancouver this year. Other prospects Mitchell expects to head to Monty’s Mounties include third baseman/second baseman Cade Doughty (7), lefthander Adam Macko (8) and shortstop Josh Kasevich (22). Doughty and Kasevich were taken in the second round of the 2022 draft while Macko was acquired from Seattle in the Teoscar Hernández deal.
In 2022, Mitchell correctly predicted that Palmer, Dallas, Hiraldo, Kloffenstein, Jiménez and Robberse would open the year in Vancouver. The only prediction that was off the mark was 2019 and 2021 outfielder Will Robertson getting a third tour of duty with Vancouver. He was assigned to the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats instead. Mitchell was also correct about Orelvis Martinez starting the 2022 campaign with New Hampshire and not Vancouver as some observers expected.
