The Vancouver Canadians lost to the Tri-City Dust Devils 7-3 at Gesa Stadium on Thursday.

The Dust Devils scored twice off C’s starter Adam Macko who began the game by whiffing three of the first four batters he faced. Arol Vera singled to left and scored on a double to center for the game’s first run. Ramirez went to third on the throw and would score on a wild pitch.
Tri-City put together another one-out rally in the third. A fielding error by Josh Kasevich allowed Joe Stewart to get to first and an Adrian Placencia single to left and a miscue by Devonte Brown allowed Stewart to score.
A Riley Tirotta walk to start the second inning was the only baserunner for Vancouver over the first four frames against Tri-City starter Connor Van Scoyoc. A 6-4-3 double play by Michael Turconi erased Tirotta to allow Van Scoyoc to face the minimum 12 batters.
Tirotta doubled to right field to start the fifth and scored on a Turconi single to right. Turconi only made it as far as second on a Dasan Brown one-out grounder to short.
Macko finished up by allowing just a two-out Stewart walk to complete five innings, finishing with six strikeouts.
The C’s drew to within a run in the top of the sixth. Garrett Spain‘s leadoff walk was nullified on a Devonte Brown 6-4-3 double play but Gabby Martinez followed with a home run to left-center field off Van Scoyoc.
Cooper Benson relieved Macko in the bottom of the sixth but got into a jam right away when Gabe Matthews singled and Werner Blakely was hit by a pitch. Benson was able to force out Matthews at third on a Vera bunt but a double steal and an Alexander Ramirez single to center. An Osmy Gregorio grounder to short got Ramirez over to second before D’Shawn Knowles singled to left to make it 6-2 Dust Devils.
Nathan Burns replaced Van Scoyoc to begin the seventh and issued a walk to Turconi before hitting Kasevich with one out. Dasan Brown forced out Kasevich on a 5-4 fielder’s choice. Brown would steal second but Jommer Hernández struck out swinging.
Benson kept the C’s deficit at four with a pair of punchouts and throwing out Placencia trying to swipe third after a two-out double to left.
Devonte Brown homered with one out in the eighth inning off Hayden Seig to make it a three-run game but the Dust Devils matched that run with one of their own in the bottom of the frame. C’s reliever Matt Svanson walked Matthews and made it all the way home on a one-out single to center by Vera and a base hit to right by Ramirez.
A Tirotta walk and a one-out single to center by Kasevich chased Seig from the game but Nick Jones got the final two outs for the save.
